CHAPTER 9: THE PUSHERS
What Pushes Pushers?
Does it make sense to you for some illegal aliens to obtain taxpayer-subsidized, in-state tuition at some state universities while some American citizens pay out-of-state tuition to those same universities? To me, our irrational immigration policies and our non-enforcement of immigration laws make no sense at all unless:
• One makes money by hiring illegal aliens at below-market wage rates;
• One increases political power by organizing and/or catering to selected categories of illegal aliens;
• One sells foreign language newspapers or owns foreign-language media outlets--which, for example, most of the large media chains do;
• One believes the larger the domestic market becomes, the better for everyone...without recognizing the downsides of growth.
For the rest of us who pay extra taxes to subsidize such irrationality, the only thing that makes less sense is the fact that we continue to elect politicians who subject us to such senseless subsidies!
America’s population growth pushers have a variety of motives. However, many--probably most--have one trait in common: They have never asked themselves the question, “How many Americans are enough?” If they did, perhaps some of them would stop pushing to have an America of one billion or more residents. |
