Now that you have had time to think about thinking like a populationist, let’s consider how you can translate your populationist thinking into action. |

CONTRIBUTE TIME
When politicians, federal, state, or local, advocate actions which you know will result in population increases, call or write and ask them to tell you how many they think are enough--enough people in America, in your state, or in your local political entity. They will twist and turn like Harry Houdini to avoid giving you an answer, but keep after them. For example, you might write:
“I see by your voting record you believe America and (insert the name of your own state, county, city, or town) should have more people. Personally, I believe (insert your number) million people would be a sustainable population for America and (insert your number) people would be a rational population for (insert the name of your own state, county, city, or town). But since you obviously believe that America should have more than its present 300 million people and that (insert the name of your own state, county, city, or town) should have more than its present population, you must have some objective targets in mind. So, please, tell me, what are your targets for America’s and (insert the name of your own state, county, city, or town) populations?”
What are the chances that you will get firm numbers in reply? What are the chances you could fly, if you just flapped your arms fast enough? That’s OK! The politician you wrote to now knows there is another populationist out there watching and recording. At some point that politician will realize there are more of you than previously recognized.
Also, your local newspaper may be happy to print a letter from you saying, “Here is a letter I sent to...(Then, insert your letter to the politician.) Unfortunately, (name of politician) was unable to provide me with an answer regarding an ultimate population for America and for (insert the name of your own state, county, city, or town).” Remember this: Even letters to editors which do not get printed or calls to radio and television stations which do not get read over the air have an effect! |
